skills, including exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and
capacity for working with diverse populations.

Ease with
technology is a must, including knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Google Docs and

Bilingual
(English & Spanish proficiency) - May
assist with translation and/or communication using second language skills when

Bookstore, Events Coordinator
Position Type: Part time (20-24
hours per week)
Job Description: This position is
responsible for all event management for the store.
The duties
of the Events Coordinator include:
Booking:
garnering input from bookstore staff, customers, authors/artists and publishers
to create a targeted list of authors and programs for implementation and
booking these events
Execution:
managing all the logistics included in bringing a booked event to successful
conclusion
Promotion:
In coordination with communications staff, create and distribute all
promotional materials to ensure targeted attendance is achieved.
Occasional
off-site event attendance
Other duties
as assigned
The ideal
person for the Event Coordinator position will possess the following skills and abilities:
·
Excellent
project management skills to identify, implement and promote successful events.
·
Ability to
manage a multitude of priorities related to event management and act with speed
to see them executed in a high quality fashion that positively impacts the
business.
·
Can use
creativity in promotion, partnership creation, and writing to come up with
clever ways to connect and promote store events along the shoreline and broader
when appropriate - work with communications coordinator to execute promotional
strategy.
·
Need to be
independent, mature individual that can establish and set own priorities, make
work plans and execute them with efficiency and speed with little to no
day-to-day direction or support.
·
Strong
marketing insight to determine events of interest.
·
Three to
five years of proven experience in event planning and management (preferably in
the publishing field).
·
Manage
multiple avenues of communication to ensure all content is updated and meets
deadlines for posting and distribution (eg. Facebook, Twitter, website, emails,
etc.)
·
High level
of proficiency with AV systems
·
Understand
the revenue impact to store, be able to calculate needed events, attendance
requirements, plan out schedules accordingly and deliver results.
·
Participates in training and professional development (monthly meeting).
·
May assist
other associates in completing tasks, as requested by the immediate supervisor.

visits and book fairs, developing reading lists) and assisting with the
development of new initiatives.

Plans and directs efforts to involve students, families in bookstore programs
and initiatives.
·
Establishes linkages with local schools to promote their involvement
with La Casa Azul Bookstore
·
Represents the bookstore at community meetings and events.
·
Manages schedules of all
school book fairs and school visits.
·
Maintains
correspondence with teachers and administrators.
·
Administers
evaluations, attendance tracking, reports and documentation for educational
programs and fairs.
·
Developing expertise on our products, merchandising, and services
in order to offer each customer the best guidance on conducting more successful
events.
·
Participates in training and professional development (monthly meeting)
·
May assist
other associates in completing tasks, as requested by the immediate supervisor.
Supervises
off site book fairs:
·
Attend off site book fairs
·
Receive,
sort and prepare inbound and outbound book shipments.
·
Participate
in sales and inventory counts.

The ideal person for the School Programs Coordinator position will possess the following skills and abilities: |
- 2 years teaching or related experience, ideally including time in an informal learning setting
- Enthusiastic about team work. Ability to work well with staff, teachers and interns to promote the mission of La Casa Azul Bookstore
- Self-driven; able to multitask and lead interns to extend your work. Entrepreneurial, creative, and superb on follow-through.
